Formula 1: Lando Norris Takes Pole Position in Hungary
McLaren duo lead qualifying ahead of Verstappen
Lando Norris has taken pole position for the Hungarian Grand Prix after a dramatic qualifying session. The McLaren driver led teammate Oscar Piastri to a one-two ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen.
High-stakes qualifying
The hour-long session took place in wet-dry conditions, with two red flags causing delays. Verstappen initially led the way on intermediate tires, but Norris switched to slicks and set the fastest time on his final lap.
Verstappen's charge
Verstappen, who has won the last two races, was unable to match Norris's pace on slicks. The Dutch driver will start third, ahead of Ferrari's Carlos Sainz and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton.
Sainz's disappointment
Sainz, who was on pole for the British Grand Prix last weekend, was disappointed to miss out on front-row start. He made a mistake on his final lap, which cost him valuable time.
Hamilton's frustration
Hamilton, who has not won a race this season, will start fifth. The seven-time world champion was frustrated by traffic on his final lap.
