Red Sox Wake Up, Take Series Opener in Baltimore

Suárez Shines, Casas Returns for Boston

The Boston Red Sox snapped a three-game losing streak on Friday night, taking the series opener against the Baltimore Orioles. The Sox scored three runs on a homerun by Masataka Yoshida in the 4th inning, backed by a strong pitching performance by Albert Suárez.

Suárez pitched 6 scoreless innings, allowing only 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 7 batters. The Red Sox bullpen closed out the game, with John Schreiber, Matt Strahm, and Hansel Robles combining to allow only 1 run on 2 hits over the final 3 innings.

The win was a much-needed one for the Red Sox, who had lost 7 of their last 10 games. The victory also marked the return of Triston Casas, who was activated from the injured list after missing nearly four months with an ankle injury.
